BEIJING, April 20 (Xinhua) -- The following are the updates on the global fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

SANTIAGO -- Chile's health ministry on Monday reported 6,643 new COVID-19 infections and 100 new deaths in the last 24 hours, bringing the national tallies to 1,131,340 and 25,277 respectively.

There has been a 5-percent decline in cases nationwide over the past week, Health Minister Enrique Paris told a press conference.

SEOUL -- South Korea reported 549 more cases of COVID-19 as of midnight Monday compared to 24 hours ago, raising the total number of infections to 115,195.

The daily caseload stayed below 600 for two days in a row.

BEIJING -- The Chinese mainland on Monday reported one new locally transmitted COVID-19 case in Yunnan Province, the National Health Commission said in its daily report on Tuesday.

The same day also saw nine new imported cases on the mainland. Of them, three were reported in Shanghai, two in Fujian, and one each in Zhejiang, Hubei, Sichuan and Shaanxi.

ANKARA -- Turkey on Monday reported 55,149 new COVID-19 cases, including 2,862 symptomatic patients, raising the total number in the country to 4,323,596, according to its health ministry.

The death toll from the virus in Turkey rose by 341 to 36,267, while the total recoveries climbed to 3,736,537 after 48,947 more recovered in the last 24 hours.
