ISTANBUL, April 20 (Xinhua) -- Turkish police on Tuesday launched simultaneous operations against suspected members of the Islamic State in Istanbul and detained at least 14 foreign nationals, local media reported.

The counter-terrorism unit of the Istanbul police raided eight addresses across the city to capture the suspects, who were believed to have been preparing terror attacks, the state-run Anadolu agency said.

The nationalities of the suspects were not immediately available.

Several organizational documents and digital materials were also seized in the searches, Anadolu added.

Turkey's anti-terror teams have lately intensified their raids against the group members in the country.

The Islamic State has been blamed for a spate of deadly attacks in the country since 2015.
