HERAT, Afghanistan -- Three people, including an assailant, were killed and three others wounded when a suicide car bomb rocked a police station in Afghanistan's western province of Herat early Tuesday, the provincial governor confirmed.

"The incident occurred outside police station of Ghoryan district, in the western part of Herat roughly at 2:00 a.m. Tuesday local time," Governor Sayyed Waheed Qatali told Xinhua. (Afghanistan-Bombing)

ISTANBUL -- Turkish police on Tuesday launched simultaneous operations against suspected members of the Islamic State in Istanbul and detained at least 14 foreign nationals, local media reported.

The counter-terrorism unit of the Istanbul police raided eight addresses across the city to capture the suspects, who were believed to have been preparing terror attacks, the state-run Anadolu agency said. (Turkey-Terrorists)

MOGADISHU -- A roadside explosion killed a Somali government official Tuesday in the capital of Mogadishu.

The Ministry of Information said Abdi Mohamed Mohamud, the deputy commissioner of Daynile district, was killed when his vehicle ran over an improvised explosive device (IED) which was planted on the road in the northern suburb of Mogadishu. (Somalia-Explosion)
