ANKARA, Sept. 14 (Xinhua) -- Turkish security forces detained 12 people suspected of financing the militant Islamic State (IS) group, the semi-official Anadolu Agency reported on Tuesday.
Prosecutors in the northwestern Balikesir province issued arrest warrants for the suspects over allegedly providing financial support to the IS between 2018 and 2019, the agency reported.
The suspects were detained in simultaneous police operations in various places, including Ankara, Istanbul, and the provinces of Konya, Adana and Sanliurfa. Many documents and digital materials were also seized during the operations, the agency said.
The IS has been blamed for a spate of deadly attacks in Turkey since 2015.
