In a telephone conversation on Sunday, Amirabdollahian and Mevlut Cavusoglu talked about issues of mutual interest, the relations between Iran and Turkey, and the latest regional developments.

Expressing gratitude to his Turkish counterpart for an invitation to visit Turkey, the top Iranian diplomat underlined Tehran's determination to develop ties with Ankara. He also hoped for more consultations to broaden the relations between the two neighbors.

For his part, Cavusoglu expressed hope that constant contacts between Turkish and Iranian officials would strengthen the bilateral relations and promote cooperation between the two states.

Amirabdollahian was scheduled to visit Turkey in early June, but his trip has been postponed.

In a meeting in Tehran in November 2021, Amirabdollahian and Cavusoglu agreed on the launch of negotiations on a roadmap to cooperation between the two neighbors.
