3.8-magnitude earthquake strikes near Syrian-Turkish border

Damascus, Dec. 15 (SANA)A 3.8-magnitude earthquake struck on Monday near theSyrian-Turkish border, the National Earthquake Center reported.

The quake hit south of Turkey's Hatay province, about 59 km northwest of Idleb, at a depth of 5.5 km. According to the center, it was caused by natural activity along the East Anatolian Fault.

The tremor was felt in parts of northwestern Syria, though no casualties or material damage were reported.

The National Earthquake Center stated that it continues to monitor seismic activity in the area.
