ISTANBUL, Dec. 28 (Xinhua) -- Five people were killed and six others injured in a traffic accident in Istanbul, local authorities said on Sunday.
The crash occurred on Saturday evening in the Esenyurt district on the European side of the city, when a midibus overturned into a vacant lot amid heavy rainfall and slippery road conditions, according to a statement from the Istanbul governor's office.
Firefighting, police and medical teams were dispatched to the scene and the injured were taken to nearby hospitals, with two of them in critical condition, the governor's office said.
