PanARMENIAN.Net - Turkish Airlines is expected to enter Armenia's aviation market soon, Tourism Committee Chair Lusine Gevorgyan said at a press conference.

She noted that the airline has significant potential to operate a direct Yerevan-Los Angeles flight, Factor.am reports.

"I am always asked about a Yerevan-Los Angeles direct flight, and they already operate such routes and have that potential. I cannot yet say how they will proceed, but it is one of the world's three most powerful airlines and can create the opportunity for a direct Yerevan-Los Angeles flight. This is one of the new destinations we are negotiating. I cannot say when it will happen, but it is in our focus," she said.

Earlier, the airline informed Armenian-language users on social media about upcoming new flights from Yerevan. At the end of last year, Turkish media reported that Turkish Airlines would begin direct flights to Yerevan in March.

According to reports, flights will start on March 11, 2026, with a frequency of seven times per week. From May 14, the number of Istanbul-Yerevan flights will increase to 10 per week, and from June 15, the frequency will reach 14 weekly flights.

Earlier, Turkey's special representative in the Armenia-Turkey normalization process, Serdar Kilic, wrote on social media regarding the Istanbul-Yerevan-Istanbul route: "Another step forward. Turkish Airlines will operate flights on the Istanbul-Yerevan-Istanbul route starting March 11, 2026."
