DOHA, June 4 (Xinhua) -- Qatari Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani on Thursday called on all parties to respond positively to the ongoing mediation efforts between the United States and Iran, according to a statement by Qatar's Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
During a phone call with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, the Qatari prime minister said mediation efforts would pave the way for addressing the root causes of the crisis through dialogue and reaching a sustainable agreement that prevents renewed escalation.
The two sides also discussed bilateral relations and ways to strengthen cooperation.
The phone call came amid ongoing diplomatic efforts to ease tensions between the United States and Iran and prevent further escalation in the region.
