PanARMENIAN.Net - Turkey's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued a statement regarding the parliamentary elections held in Armenia on June 7.

Official Ankara expressed hope that, in the post-election period, Armenia would "take bolder steps toward peace and normalization in the region," according to Radio Liberty.

"Turkey will continue to contribute to regional stability and prosperity, as it has done until now, on the basis of the common interests of the countries of the region," the statement said.

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan has previously stated that Turkey supports the process of normalization between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

According to preliminary election results, the vote distribution was as follows: Civil Contract - 49.825%, Strong Armenia - 23.281%, Hayastan Alliance - 9.934%, Prosperous Armenia - 3.996%. Under the updated figures, Prosperous Armenia has not cleared the 4% threshold required for political parties, although the party has requested recounts at several polling stations.
