PanARMENIAN.Net - The normalization of relations between Turkey and Armenia is directly linked to the settlement process between Armenia and Azerbaijan, said Fuat Oktay, chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey.

He stressed that these processes are developing in parallel, APA reported.

"We hope that all this will develop very quickly, and that the region's agenda will henceforth be shaped not by conflicts but by peace, prosperity and development. Going forward, we will primarily focus on the future," he said.

The committee chairman also noted that within the framework of Armenian-Azerbaijani relations, both the transit of Kazakh and Russian grain and the launch of trade ties demonstrate the Azerbaijani side's self-confidence.

According to him, Azerbaijan has begun to implement the agreements reached in stages even before the official signing of the planned agreement and the emergence of legal obligations.

"This is a very important indicator and shows Azerbaijan's self-confidence," he said.

Yerevan and Ankara issued a statement in December 2021 expressing readiness to take steps toward normalizing relations. In 2022, representatives of the two countries agreed in Vienna to open the border to third-country nationals and to begin direct cargo flights; however, these agreements have not yet been implemented in practice.

In September 2025, Serdar Kilic visited Armenia. Armenia's Foreign Ministry reported that the sides discussed steps to implement the agreements reached on July 1, 2022, and agreed to accelerate the process.
