Trkiye's tourism revenue hits record high in 2025: minister

ISTANBUL, Jan. 30 (Xinhua) -- Trkiye's tourism revenue hit a record 65.2 billion U.S. dollars in 2025 as the country hosted 64 million visitors, Culture and Tourism Minister Mehmet Nuri Ersoy said Friday.

Speaking at a press conference in Istanbul, Ersoy said Trkiye credited the sector's strong performance to efforts in diversifying tourism offerings, improving infrastructure, and promoting the country globally.

Highlighting innovative initiatives, Ersoy pointed to the "Legacy for the Future" vision and the Night Museums program, which extend museum hours and offer interactive cultural experiences.

He also noted the success of Trkiye's tourism "mini-series" campaign. A single episode of An Istanbul Story reached 32 million views, while even the least-viewed content exceeded 10 million.

Referring to United Nations World Tourism Organization data, Ersoy stressed Trkiye's rise in global rankings. The country moved from 8th place in tourist arrivals in 2017 to 4th in 2024, while its tourism revenue climbed from 15th to 7th place over the same period.
